Workshop Delivery Preparation: Workshop Analysis
Learning Objectives: Participants will understand the learning objectives of the activities and ways they can make the workshops as effective as possible.
Resources:
Note: Learning to facilitate a new workshop can take some time and effort. You may want to assign an initial read of the seven workshops as homework. As well, familiarize yourself with the workshops and be prepared to support the teen sexual health educators' answers to the questions in this activity.
Time: 1.5 hours
Materials:
Procedure:
- Explain the purpose of the activity.
- Divide the group into 7 smaller groups. Assign each group one of the workshops.
- Explain that participants will look at the workshop and answer some questions about it. They will have 15 minutes to do this. After that, they will report back to the group.
- Have each group teach the others about their workshop.
- Brainstorm strategies for preparing to facilitate workshops.

- What are the learning objectives for each activity in the workshop? What should participants think, feel, or do after completing the activity?
- Why is each activity important for promoting sexual health?
- What are some important ideas to draw out of this activity? What key messages do you want the teens to take away from each activity? What are some questions you can use to help draw out these key messages? (You want to keep your questions open-ended so participants have the opportunity to find the answers themselves.)
- What are some issues and potential red flags to be aware of when facilitating this activity?
- What could be some of the common emotional reactions and thoughts that participants experience during this activity? What strategies can you use to support participants through this activity?
- Why do you think the methodology was chosen to communicate this idea?
- What are some ideas for how to make activities work if things didn't click in a class?
